Health & Safety Policy
1. Statement of Intent
Alex’s Aquatics is committed to ensuring the health, safety and welfare of all employees and others who may be affected by our activities, including clients, contractors and visitors. We recognise our duties under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and associated regulations. Our aim is to prevent accidents and work-related ill health by maintaining safe working conditions, systems of work and practices.
We will, so far as is reasonably practicable:
• Provide a safe and healthy working environment • Identify hazards and manage risks effectively • Provide information, instruction and training as required • Consult with employees on health and safety matters • Review this policy regularly to ensure it remains effective
2. Responsibilities for Health & Safety
Employer / Senior Management: Overall responsibility for health and safety rests with senior management, who will ensure this policy is implemented and maintained, adequate resources are provided, risk assessments are carried out and reviewed, and legal compliance is achieved.
Employees: All employees must take reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others, follow company procedures, use equipment safely, report hazards or incidents promptly, and co-operate with management on health and safety matters.
Contractors and Visitors: Contractors and visitors must comply with company health and safety rules, take reasonable care for their own safety and that of others, and report any hazards or incidents.
3. Arrangements for Health & Safety
Risk Assessment: Suitable and sufficient risk assessments will be carried out for work activities. Hazards will be identified, control measures implemented, and assessments reviewed regularly or following significant change.
Training and Information: Employees will receive appropriate health and safety information and training on induction and when roles or risks change.
Accident and Incident Reporting: All accidents, incidents and near misses must be reported promptly. Incidents will be investigated, records maintained, and reportable incidents notified under RIDDOR where applicable.
First Aid: Appropriate first aid arrangements will be in place, including suitable equipment and periodic review of provision.
Health and Wellbeing: Reasonable steps will be taken to protect employee wellbeing, including identifying and managing work-related stress risks.
Monitoring and Review: Health and safety arrangements will be monitored on an ongoing basis. This policy will be reviewed annually or following significant changes.
